Phase 3: analysis

What will you be doing?

In this part of your project, we will be discussing two main subjects:

- quantitative analysis and

- qualitative analysis.

In addition, we’ll be looking at the quality of research findings.

Many consider the analysis phase to be the most difficult phase of a research project. A good knowledge of statistics is needed for numerical processing of data: a stumbling block for many students. If you are processing texts, you’ll be doing qualitative analysis. That may seem a lot easier if you’re not working with formulas. But make no mistake, repeating, summarising, coding and grouping time and time again requires a lot of brainwork and discussion. It is truly a ‘complex skill’.
